Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Telangana unit, took a dig at the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Party in Telangana.
On the 3rd of September, Saturday, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, is not celebrating the Telangana Liberation Day, due to the fear of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.) Addressing the media, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, “BJP is the only political party demanding for the last several years to organise Liberation Day.” He also claimed that the TRS Government fears backlash from the Asaduddin Owaisi led AIMIM and therefore, does not celebrate the State Liberation Day, on the 17th of September.
Furthermore, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar asked for an explanation for not celebrating the Telangana Liberation Day, every year on the 17th of September.
It is to be noted, on the 17th of September 1948, Hyderabad was officially included in India and got freedom from Nizams, marking the day as the Telangana Liberation Day.
However, the day is not celebrated by the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi officially in the Telugu State. The major reason for not celebrating the day statewide is said to be the alliance with the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.)
Therefore, unlike Maharashtra, Kerala and other regions which got freedom from the Nizams, the State of Telangana does not celebrate the day.
However, for the last few years, the BJP is holding an event on the Telangana Liberation Day and also assuring an official celebration after the BJP comes in power in the Telugu State of Telangana.
