Ahead of the Huzurabad Assembly by election, the Telangana police filed a case against Mr. Eatala Rajender, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member.
According to sources, on the 11th of October, the BJP
Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate for Huzurabad Assembly constituency, held a public gathering. During the event, Mr. Rajender allegedly violated the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) protocols. At the public meeting, people including political leaders were seen without face masks, gathering of people without any maintenance of social distancing and other violations of COVID-19 protocols and Model Code of Conduct (MCC) election norms were seen.
In regard to this, the flying squad of the Election Commission (EC) filed a police complaint against the BJP Leader, following which the police registered a complaint. The case was registered under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 51(b) of the Disaster Management Act 2005.
Mr. V Srinivas, the Circle Inspector (CI) of Huzurabad, gave a statement and confirmed the same. The investigation in the matter is underway.
Meanwhile, the Huzurabad by election is scheduled to be held on the 30th of October, whereas the results would be announced on the 2nd of November.
Major parties like the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the BJP and the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) are in the fray to win the by election.
