BJP MLA Raja Singh Convicted In 2015 Police Attack Case

A Special Session Judge at Nampally Court convicted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) T.Raja Singh Lodh.

On the 29th of January, the Court announced imprisonment for 1 year to Mr. Raja. He was convicted for assaulting and threatening police force.

The case was first reported in 2015 December.

On the 12th of December 2015, the Joint Action Committee (JAC ) of Osmania University organised a ‘Beef Festival” against which the Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh started the protest.

He was taken into preventive custody and shifted to Bollaram police station in Secunderabad.

The police prevented the MLA from meeting the party workers, upon which Raja Singh allegedly assaulted and threatened a police sub inspector Mallesh.

In regard to this, the Bollarum police registered a case under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 506 criminal intimidation of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)

Later in 2019, a charge sheet was filed by the police and the trial of case started with the Special Sessions Judge.

Besides imprisonment of one year, MLA Raja Singh was asked to givepay a fine of Rs. 5,000.
