BRS Questions Telangana’s Priorities Ahead Of Global Summit

Telangana plans to attract major investments through its upcoming Telangana Rising Global Summit. However, the state’s water supply and farmers’ irrigation needs have become a point of political debate.

At a press conference in Hyderabad on Friday, BRS MLA Dr K. Sanjay challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to hold a Water Summit instead of the Global Summit. He said the government should first address drinking water and power shortages.

BRS MLA Sanjay questioned how the state could meet the needs of new industries when people and farmers still faced water shortages. He also claimed that industries struggled with power supply and pointed to the Kitex Group’s move to Andhra Pradesh.

Another BRS MLA, Padi Kaushik Reddy, raised concerns over the use of Godavari water. He claimed that nearly 1,000 TMC feet of water had flowed downstream without being used for irrigation.

BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy demanded ₹50,000 per acre in compensation for farmers whose crops had dried up. He also urged the government to lift water from the Medigadda barrage for farming.
