Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced plans to develop Bapughat as a global center for Gandhian ideology, with a Gandhi statue akin to Gujarat’s Statue of Unity. Addressing a media event in Hyderabad, he expressed determination to revitalize the Musi River and criticized the BJP and TRS for opposing these efforts. “If Gujarat has the Sabarmati Riverfront, why are BJP leaders stopping us from reviving Musi? We aim to make Hyderabad a global landmark,” Reddy declared.

Revanth also censured the central government, alleging discrimination against southern states. Highlighting financial disparities, he claimed, “For every rupee Telangana sends, only 40 paisa returns.” Reddy proposed uniting southern chief ministers to address this imbalance and even offered to host a conference for them if necessary.

He critiqued TRS leader KCR, stating that dissatisfaction with his leadership led to defeat. “KCR rarely attended the Secretariat; people want proactive governance,” he said, pledging to continue progressive work despite opposition.

Responding to recent statements by AP CM Chandrababu Naidu on population growth, Reddy noted, “Chandrababu’s comments reflect concerns about aging demographics. This issue isn’t political but about societal balance,” he explained.
