The Indian National Congress Women Wing staged a protest on the 8th of June, Wednesday.

The protest across Telangana was held because of the recent molestation, rape, and sexual harassment cases in Telugu State.  The All India Mahila Congress President Ms. D’ Souza led the protest and alleged that women are not safe in the State raising their voice against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.)

In addition, the Telangana Congress Mahila President Ms. Sunita Rao, and other leaders took part in the protest held at Gandhi Bhavan, Hyderabad.  The leaders are reported to meet the Director-General of Public (DGP) of Telangana.

During the protest, the Mahila Congress leaders said that the number of rape cases has increased in the State.  In addition, she also said that there is no protection even for the small kids in the State.  The President of the Mahila Congress said, that police officials are deliberately delaying the investigation in the Jubilee Hills rape case, as the accused are sons of top political leaders.  She alleged that many cases have been filed in the police station this year, of which, the accused in just 46 cases had been punished.

Highlighting the facts, Ms. Sunaita Rao said, in the last few days, more than five rape cases of minors have been reported in Hyderabad city.  A 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by two men while she was going to her grandmother’s place and the incident took place on the 31st of May.  Another case was filed when the girl was reported missing and later, she was found in the Sultanshahi area on the 1st of June.

In another case, a 21-year-old Mohammed Sufyan was sexually assaulted on the 31st of May. In the third case, a minor girl from an orphanage was raped in a car on the 22nd of April, but the incident came to light recently.

Besides the Indian National Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also slammed the K. Chandrashekar Rao-led Government for not providing enough security to women of the City.

The outrage of the opposition over women’s security was triggered after the recent case of the Hyderabad minor girl gang rape case.  Although the investigation is underway, the leaders are demanding strict action against the culprits, who are said to be sons of MLAs and VIPs in the City.
