On the 19th of April, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government announced a 10 % increase in the gross salaries of police officials working during the COVID-19 situation.

The announcement to increase the salaries came after a six hours long Cabinet meeting scheduled on the afternoon of the 19th of April at Pragati Bhavan.  During the meeting, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana took major decisions to curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 in the State.  One of the major decisions was to extend the lockdown till the 7th of May in the State.

He even announced strict guidelines to be followed during the lockdown without any relaxation till the 7th of May.

Mr. Rao said, “The Government will provide ration and Rs. 1,500 to migrant labourers who have families in Telangana and ration to those who stay alone.”   People with White ration cards would be given 12 kg free rice and Rs. 1,500.

Swiggy and Zomato, food delivery apps are also not allowed to function from the 20th of April.  If any delivery agent violates then strict actions would be taken against them.  

Renters are also asked not to take rents for March, April and May.  If anyone violates the rule, strict actions would be taken including a police complaint.

The Telangana CM said, “The owners should give deferment to the renters and they should not collect any interest. If anyone pressurises then the renters can call the police.”

Private schools are also not allowed to take fees or increase fees for the academic year, 2020-2021 and are only allowed to collect tuition fees.  

These guidelines are said to be followed till the 7th of May.  However, marriage events, gatherings of people would be prohibited even after the 7th of May, until further orders.

Telangana Government would conduct another Cabinet meeting on the 5th of May and would revise the guidelines based on the then pandemic situation in the State.
