On the 19th of December, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar paid tributes to police officers who lost their lives while on duty, due to the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
According to sources, nearly 34 police officers lost their lives fighting the deadly COVID-19 infection, while performing their duties.
The Telangana Police organised a condolence meeting at the Commissioner Office in Hyderabad.
The commemoration meeting was scheduled on the evening of the 18th of December.
Families of the policemen who died attended the meeting and recalled the selfless work during the initial days of the outbreak of the virus.
During the event, CP Anjani Kumar said, “Death of a family member, especially the head of the family in a span of 10 days is shocking to anyone. What police personnel have done during the past eight months while performing duties during the floods when some of their own houses were flooded and shifting patients to hospitals and working at hospitals during the time of pandemic is what is called, performance beyond the call of duty.”
All the people present there observed a two minute silence as a mark of respect for the departed souls.
Mr. Anjani Kumar handed over a citation to the families of the deceased policemen. He also assured adequate assistance to the families of the policemen who lost their lives due to COVID-19.
