ECI Issues Notice To Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy Amid Corruption Allegations In Munugode By Election

The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a notice to Mr. K Raj Gopal Reddy, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Munugode Assembly by election in Telangana.

The notice issued on the 30th of October, Sunday, was over allegations that Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy’s family owned company named Sushee Infra and Mining Ltd., transferred Rs. 5.24 crores to 23 individuals/companies for voter inducement.  The company used its State Bank of India, account to transfer the money on the 14th of October, which is believed to be in regard to wooing voters in the Munugode Assembly constituency.

According to sources, the matter came to light after Mr. Soma Bharath Kumar, the General Secretary of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) registered a complaint in this regard with the Telangana Election Commission.   Acting upon the complaint, the ECI issued a notice and asked the BJP leader Mr. Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, to respond to the notice by 4:00 P.M., on the 31st of October, Monday.

The notice read, “Meanwhile, as a transferor, if done by you or under your direction by a family-owned company as alleged, it is duty cast on you to ensure that this fund transferred to different 23 bank accounts are not used for voter inducement, as alleged, which is a corrupt practice.”

On the other hand, the Munugode by election is scheduled to be held on the 3rd of November, whereas the results of the elections would be announced on the 6th of November.

The TRS, the BJP and the Indian National Congress (INC) are in the fray to win the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) seat of the Munugode Assembly constituency.
