Explain What BJP Has Done For Weavers In India, KTR Throws Open Challenge To Bandi Sanjay Kumar

Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana challenged Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar to explain the contribution of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to Telangana weavers.

On the 2nd of August, Tuesday, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao took a dig at the BJP State President Mr. Bandi Sanjay, who claimed that their efforts led to the implementation of the ‘Nethanna Ku Bima’ scheme in the State.  Recently, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, after the repeated pressure on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) they implemented the Nethanna Ku Bima scheme, benefiting weavers of the Telugu State.  Under the scheme, the K. Chandrashekar Rao-led TRS Government announced to provide Rs. 5 lakh insurance coverage for the weavers of the State.  However, after the announcement by Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar took the credit and said, due to the constant nudging by the BJP, the State Government of Telangana implemented the long pending scheme, which is scheduled to begin from the 7th of August.  Notably, to help weaver’s families in the State, after the death of the breadwinner of the families, the victim’s family would get an amount of Rs. 5 lakh within the 10 days of the demise.  The weavers between the age of 16 to 60 years are eligible under the Nethanna Ku Bima Scheme.

In regard to this scheme, the  Telangana Government had entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to extend insurance to weavers on the lines of ‘Rythu Bima’ for farmers.  The premium of the insurance would be paid by the Government of Telangana.

During a media interaction, KTR asked Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar to explain what either the BJP Government at the Centre or Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar himself as the Member of Parliament (MP) of Karimnagar did for weavers in the last eight years.

Giving a sharp counter to Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, KTR said, “BS Kumar, Why don’t you tell us what NPA Govt did for weavers in Telangana in the last 8 years?  Or you as an MP in Karimnagar?”
