Hyderabad: Telangana assembly unanimously elected Gaddam Prasad as the speaker of Telangana state assembly on Thursday. Prasad took charge as third speaker of Telangana assembly.
Protem speaker Akbaruddin Owasi declared that Prasad is unanimously elected as speaker since only one nomination is filed for that post. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy, BRS leader and former minister K Taraka Rama Rao, deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka congratulated the newly elected speaker and accompanied him to the chair.
Revanth Reddy asked the speaker to protect the rights of every member in the meeting. He said that Vikarabad is a remote place and known for medical care during Nizam’s time. “Treatment at Vikarabad is believed to cure any kind of ill health and distress. I hope Prasad will ensure that every member get the right to express their problems in the house,” CM said.
KTR asked the speaker to let the voice of opposition reach people at the assembly. Prasad addressing the house said that he will act unbiased and give opportunity to the opposition. Prasad said that 57 candidates were newly elected to the house and asked everyone to protect the dignity of the house.
