Heavy Rainfall Predicted In Hyderabad And Regions of Telangana For Next Two Days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall in Hyderabad regions on the 17th and the 18th of July.

While the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits would witness heavy rainfall, other districts of Telangana are likely to have light to moderate rainfall for the next two days. The State Weather Department also released a warning of heavy rainfall at isolated places of Yadadri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Narayanpet. Apart from rainfall, many parts of Telangana would have lighting and gusty winds.

In July, Hyderabad and many other districts of Telangana witnessed light to very heavy rainfalls.

Meanwhile, recently, the Telangana High Court (HC) expresses disappointment with the GHMC over the road conditions of Hyderabad.

The delay in restoration of roads dug up for various purposes including laying of drainage pipelines, telecom cables, water pipelines, etc., is posing a risk to commuters, creating unsafe conditions.

This monsoon, in June 2021, Telangana received 50 % more rain than the usual rainfall received during the Monsoon. Telangana received 194.55 mm rainfall against the normal 130 mm. From June 1st to the 30th of June, Telangana reported 194.55 mm of rain.

According to sources, the highest amount of rainfall was received in Adilabad (318.7 mm) and Wanaparthy recorded the least amount of rainfall (76.8 mm.) In addition only six districts, Mancherial, Nirmal, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Vikarabad received normal rainfall. Of the remaining 27 districts, 11 districts received excess rainfall, 13 districts received large excess and five districts have received normal rainfall during this period.

It is to be noted that -19 % to 19 % range is normal rainfall, 20 % to 59 % is excess rainfall and 60 to 100% is large excess rainfall.
