After the recent sexual assault incident at the BSD DAV Public School, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government shut down the school.
However, considering the academics of the students, the concerned authority gave three options to the parents; shifting to a different school, a total refund of the fee paid, and a change in the management and staff. With the given options, parents of the students studying at the BSD DAV Public School in Banjara Hills demanded a change of management. They urged the State Government to reopen the school but with different management, in view of the student’s academics.
According to parents, only one CBSE-affiliated school was among five options given to them for shifting their wards. A parent said, “Out of five options, there is one CBSE-affiliated school but it charges Rs 2.20 lakh per annum which not all parents can afford. We are equally pained by the incident. As it is the middle of the academic year, we want the government to reopen the school but with different management and staff. Parents are planning to meet Education Minister Ms. P. Sabitha Indra Reddy on Wednesday on the issue.”
Meanwhile, the current school administration is likely to hold a meeting with the Telangana Education Minister Ms. P. Sabitha Reddy in this regard.
It is to be noted, a four year old girl was sexually assaulted by Rajani Kumar, the driver of the BSD DAV Public School Principal Ms. Madhavi. The matter came to light, after the victim informed about the same to her parents, who then approached the police and demanded justice.
The matter is currently under investigation and the accused Rajani Kumar along with the school principal Ms. Madhavi are under police custody.
