On Sunday, the Rachakonda Police of the Hyderabad division arrested a person Dr. Mohammed Sujath Ali Khan for selling Ganja Chocolates. The doctor in a confession said that he got the idea to manufacture and peddle these ganja chocolates after he encountered Whiskey chocolates, rum balls and also bhang that is prepared during Holi. The idea came to him as he was also a regular marijuana user. Apart from Hyderabad city, he also developed a customer base in Bengaluru, Vellore, and Chennai which mostly consisted of students and women.
Speaking to the TOI news daily, the Special Operation team inspector Narasing Rao said that, “The accused used to get payment through net banking, while the chocolates used to be delivered through courier. He used to earn about Rs 40,000 by selling the products.” The police revealed that the accused sold these chocolates on the Instagram page which had 700-800 followers. The police are checking on the followers of the page and might be cross-questioned for purchasing these chocolates.
The doctor, who is also a fitness freak, though not certified nutritionist used to provide advice to the gym members regularly where he used to work out. In his confession, Khan also said that his father’s death recently is partially the reason behind him getting into ganja peddling. He also confessed that as chocolate can easily conceal the ganja, he opted ganja chocolate for easy transportation. When a customer approaches him through Instagram, the doctor would explain the ingredients of the chocolate and how its preparation was similar to the Bhang chocolates.
The accused obtained ganja from local sources for preparing these chocolates. He is currently under arrest and being investigated.
