INC Leader Revanth Reddy Protests Outside GHMC Office Over Flood Relief Fund

The noise over the Telangana relief fund for flood hit areas increased, as the Indian National Congress (INC) leader Revanth Reddy stepped into it.

Member of Parliament (MP) of the INC Revanth Reddy, on the 7th of November, protested in front of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) zonal office in Kukatpally.

Mr. Reddy along with the other INC leaders demanded an inquiry into the flood relief fund that was announced by the State Government.

During the protest, Revanth Reddy asked the officials about the distribution of the amount to the affected people during the recent flood.

The protest of the INC leader came after a few people of Telangana staged a protest stating that they have not received the amount from the State Government and had suffered huge losses due to rains.

In October, Telangana witnessed floods due to heavy rain, damaging Rs. 5,000 crores worth property and claimed 50 lives.

In regard to this, the State Government announced more than Rs. 500 crores for relief fund and also Rs. 10,000 for every flood affected families in the State.

However, Revanth Reddy alleged that the amount was not distributed to the flood-affected victims but was shared among the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) workers and others. He also said that GHMC turned a deaf ear when he complained to the higher authorities over the discrepancies in the amount distributed.

The TRS Government leaders denied the allegations and said they resumed the distribution of money from the 5th of November.
