On the 19th of December, the Indian National Congress (INC) leader Uzma Shakir slammed the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party over Osman Nagar’s stagnant water.

Uzma Shakir sat on hunger strike targeted Maheshwaram Assembly Constituency Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and the Education Minister of Telangana Sabitha Indra Reddy for allegedly not paying attention to the problems that are being faced by the residents of Osman Nagar.

In the past few days, the residents of Osman Nagar are demanding the removal of stagnant water.

Due to the heavy floods and rain lashed in Hyderabad in the month of October, water got accumulated in the colonies.

The stagnant water is posing huge difficulties for the residents of Osman Nagar, Shaheen Nagar and other adjoining areas.

Several houses in the Osman Nagar residential locality are still submerged due to heavy rain and floods in Jalpally municipality near Hyderabad

As of now, nobody can go and nobody can come as there is no rescue facility for more than 20 day.

In regard to this, the Telangana State High Court reviewed a petition and directed Jalpally Municipal Commissioner to clear stagnant water from Osman Nagar, Shaheen Nagar and other adjoining areas within 15 days.

The court has also directed the authority to take necessary steps to prevent spread of waterborne diseases in the locality.

Municipal Commissioner G. Praveen Kumar appeared before the Telangana HC and updated about the situation. He said the victims were shifted to safer places and that authorities need another two weeks to drain out the water from the colonies.

The next hearing regarding the matter is scheduled on the 7th of January.
