The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall across the West Coast, including parts of Maharashtra and Goa and Telangana.
According to the IMD, several Northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya will also receive heavy showers over the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, cloudbursts are also expected in east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Telangana.
The India Meteorological Department has issued an ‘orange alert’ in parts of Telangana after three days of red alert in the state. An orange alert is in place for Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts, while a yellow alert (heavy rain) has been issued in Mancherial, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jagityal, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubnagar, Siddipet districts.
Heavy rains in Telangana left low-lying areas inundated and water bodies overflowing leading to widespread damage of roads and public property on Thursday. In the wake of heavy rains, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed Education Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy to declare holiday for all educational institutions in the state on Friday.
