Ms. Manpreet Monica Singh, an Indian Origin created history and became first female Sikh to take oath as the Harris County Judge in the United States of America (U.S.A.)
On the 10th of January, Tuesday, Ms. Manpreet Monica Singh, an Indian origin resident of the U.S.A., took to her Facebook handle and shared a post. The post read, “Mama we made it! It is a ‘true honour’ to rep the people of Harris County as a Sikh civil court judge. Thank you to everyone for making this a historic moment, one that someday won’t be an uncommon event – because there will be a judiciary that includes countless Sikh people and other minorities. I’m ready to put my 2 decades of experience to good use.”
Highlighting early life of Ms. Manpreet Monica Singh, she was born and raised in Houston. Now, she stays in Bellaire with her two children and husband. Speaking of her career, for the last 20 years, Ms. Manpreet Monica Singh has been an attorney and has worked with various civil rights organisations at the national, state and local levels.
Notably, the swearing in ceremony of Ms. Manpreet Singh was presided over by Texas’ first South Asian judge Mr. Ravi Sandill.
