India’s Trade Deals Open New Doors For Telangana

India is working to expand its trade ties with countries around the world. These efforts could create new opportunities for Indian businesses, exporters and farmers.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said India’s trade agreements now cover markets linked to 76% of global GDP, worth about $115 trillion. He also said India is negotiating eight more trade agreements that could add another $15 trillion.

Speaking at the curtain-raiser event for the Invest Telangana Global Summit in New Delhi, Goyal praised Telangana’s goal of becoming a $3 trillion economy by 2047. He said the Centre, state government, businesses and citizens must work together to achieve it.

Goyal highlighted Telangana’s strengths in medicines, aerospace, defence, agriculture, research and technology. He also pointed to opportunities in artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

He urged the state to take products such as Tandur red gram, Nizamabad turmeric and Chatpata chilli to global markets through better packaging and branding. This could help farmers earn more from their produce.
