Under Operation Smile, an initiative launched by the Telangana Government, the State Police rescued 18 child labourers. Launched by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Government, Operation Smile and Muskan were launched to trace missing children and to free children involved in bonded labour, micro industries, and begging.
On the 2nd of February, the Jagtiyal Police confirmed to rescue 18 child labours during 9 missions conducted under Operation Smile. Getting into the details, the district Police said, in between the 1st of January to the 31st of January, 2023, the State Police conducted 9 missions under Operation Smile, and saved 18 children from labour. The kids went missing earlier and were trafficked to do child labour. However, under this operation conducted in Jagtiyal, 18 such children were identified and brought back to their parents.
Mr. Bhaskar, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Jagtiyal Police said, “It is the responsibility of all of us to protect the rights of children and asked to work responsibly for the elimination of child labour system.” Applauding the initiative of the Telangana Government, Mr. Bhaskar said that operation Smile and Muskan programs would be conducted continuously to eradicate the child labour system in the Telugu State of Telangana.
