K Kavitha Files Nomination For Nizamabad Local Body Elections

K. Kavitha, the former Member of Parliament (MP) of  Nizamabad constituency, on the 18th of March, filed her nomination for the upcoming Nizamabad Member of the Legislative Council (MLC,) by election.

Vemula Prashanth, the R and B Minister of Telangana, accompanied Ms. Kavitha went to the district collector’s office to submit her nomination papers.  The position of the Nizamabad MLC fell vacant after  the then Council Chairman, Swamy Goud disqualified Bhupati Reddy.  Bhupati Reddy, the former Nizamabad MLC was disqualified for switching his loyalties to the Indian National Congress (INC) before the 2018 Assembly elections of Telangana.  Mr. Reddy was elected unanimously in 2015 as the Nizamabad MLC.

Kavitha Kuntala’s candidature for the Nizamabad local body by election was announced on the morning of the 18th of March.  K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana and the President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) announced her name for the MLC elections in the constituency.

Before filing her nomination, K. Kavitha, did a grand road show and  was welcomed from National Highway 44 from Kamareddy to Nizamabad.  

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Pothankar Lakshmi Narayana also submitted her nomination papers.

The MLC election of the Nizamabad constituency is scheduled to be held on the  7th of April, whereas results would be announced on the 9th of April.
