Ms. K. Kavitha, the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS,) Reacted to the comments of Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister.

It is to be noted, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman commented on the BRS led Telangana Government regarding the sanction of medical colleges.  Addressing the media, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Telangana Government is blaming the Central Government for not sanctioning government colleges to the State, whereas they demanded a list of places for medical colleges.  The Telangana Government listed Karimnagar and Khammam for the establishment of colleges, but the places already had medical colleges, following which it was not sanctioned.  The Union Finance Minister also highlighted the fact that the PM Modi led Government approved 157 colleges, across India.

Reacting to Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, Ms. K. Kavitha said, “If the Modi Government cannot unlock the potential of the nation, don’t blame the States. Telangana is a progressive State and if you cannot think progressively, please don’t blame us.”

Ms. K. Kavitha further said that due to the myopic policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government, India’s potential remained underutilized.

Taking a dig at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Government, Ms. K. Kavitha said, “If the BJP government was seriously committed to its ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ campaign, why was the union government not customizing schemes according to requirements of the States.”  She added, “The Government should not hide its failures and should discontinue its ‘No Data Policy’ before the people.  No Votes Available will be the people’s reply.”

Ms. K. Kavitha further highlighted how the Modi Government is savior for rich people, who earn 60% profit and contribute only 3% into the Gross Domestic Profit, whereas poor people contribute much higher rate to the government.  Ms. K. Kavitha said, “But, the Modi government makes policies for the rich.  They are corporate friendly and not poor friendly.”  She added, “Why does the Modi government try to teach us on fiscal prudence?  Telangana is growing at more than 17.5% GSDP.  Telangana contributes 4.5 percent of the GDP of this country and our population is only 2.5 percent of the country.”
