KCR Extends Bathukamma Greetings, Highlights Telangana’s Culture

BRS president and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) extended Bathukamma greetings to the people of Telangana on Friday, October 9, as the nine-day festival began.

In his message, KCR described Bathukamma as a symbol of Telangana’s culture, traditions and women’s self-respect. He also highlighted the festival’s connection with nature, as women worship flowers and celebrate through traditional songs and dances.

The celebrations begin with Engili Poola Bathukamma and end with Saddula Bathukamma. Women and young girls across the state take part in the festivities.

KCR also recalled steps taken by the previous BRS government to promote the festival. He said the government gave Bathukamma the status of a state festival and introduced the distribution of Bathukamma sarees to women across Telangana.

He also referred to welfare programmes introduced for women during the BRS government’s tenure.
