K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister and the Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Minister of Telangana, said the new Municipal Act, 2019, will soon come into effect in Telangana.
On the 22nd of September, KTR conducted a review meeting with the officials and collectors of the Nalgonda Municipality at the meeting hall in the Nalgonda Collectorate.
During the meeting, KTR said the Telangana Government passed the new Municipal Act, 2019 during the Telangana Assembly session. He said with unanimous votes, the State Government would soon implement the Act for the betterment of the municipalities in Telangana.
The new Municipal Act, 2019 aims to establish transparent and accountable urban local bodies in Telangana. The new Act also provides benefits to the residents of Telangana, as strict and immediate action will be taken against the municipal officials if they neglect their work or take bribes.
The Act also promotes the use of technology to reduce the problems of Telangana residents and help them have a friendly and transparent relationship with the officials.
During the meeting, KTR asked the municipal officials and collectors to create awareness among the municipal staff and the public regarding the new Municipal Act, 2019.
KTR also briefed about the new green action plan adopted by the State Government to maintain a clean and green environment for the public. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government also allocated 10 % of the Municipal budget specifically for the green action plan.
Jagadish Reddy, the Education Minister of Telangana, Banda Narender Reddy, the Chairman of the Zila Parishad (ZP,) Gaurav Uppal, the Collector of Nalgonda, A.V. Ranganath, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nalgonda and T. Chinapa Reddy, a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC,) attended the meeting.
Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) like Bhupal Reddy, Chirumarthi Lingaiah, Gadari Kishore, Bollam Mallaiah Yadav, Bhaskar Rao, Nomula Narsimhaiah, Ravindra Kumar and other district officials and Commissioners were also present at the review meeting.
However, an official announcement about the implementation of the new Municipal Act, 2019 is yet to be made.
