Liquor Shops To Be Closed And Traffic Curb Imposed In Telangana For Ganesh Idol Immersion

Anjani Kumar, the Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad, on the 31st of August, announced, all liquor shops would remain closed.

The decision was taken in the wake of Ganesh idol immersion in the City.

The Telangana Police issued an order regarding the same and asked all liquor shops to shut from 6:00 A.M., of the 1st of September to 6:00 A.M., of the 2nd of September.

Meanwhile, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat also issued orders on closure of liquor outlets in the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate limits for 24 hours.

On the 1st of September, Hyderabad and other regions of Telangana would witness Ganesh idol immersion. Police is on alert and the Hyderabad Traffic police imposed traffic restrictions in the City.

The routes where restrictions are imposed for vehicle users are:

Accordingly, restrictions are along the main immersion route of Keshavagiri – Chandrayangutta- Falaknuma – Aliabad – Nagulchinta – Charminar – Madina building– Afzalgunj – MJ Market – Abids – Basheerbagh – Liberty – Ambedkar statue towards upper Tank Bund / NTR Marg.

Similarly, restrictions are in place in the Secunderabad area, with traffic not to be allowed on RP Road – MG Road – Karbala Maidan – Kawadiguda – Musheerabad X Road – RTC X Road – Narayanaguda X Road – Himayathnagar ‘Y’ Junction and Liberty.

There are restrictions on vehicular movement on the immersion route from Uppal – Ramanthapur – 6 No. Junction Amberpet – Shivam Road – NCC at OU – Durga Bai Deshmukh Hospital – Hindi Mahavidyalaya X Roads – Fever Hospital – Barkathpura X roads – Narayanaguda X roads and RTC X roads as well.

In the western side of the city, traffic curbs have been imposed along Tolichowki, Rethi Bowli, Mehdipatnam, Masab Tank, Ayodhya Junction – Nirankari Bhavan – old PS Saifabad – Iqbal Minar to NTR Marg. Similarly, idols from Erragadda and beyond can take the immersion route via SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Punjagutta, VV Statue and proceed to NTR Ghat.

Those coming from Tappachabutra and Asifnagar have to pass through Sitarambagh, Boiguda Kaman, Volga hotel, Goshamahal Bardari, M J Market and proceed towards Upper Tank Bund.

No traffic other than the idol processions will be allowed on the procession routes. The traffic restrictions will be extended if the situation so demands.

The Telangana State Run Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses from the city to different districts and adjoining States will be provided alternative routes. Private bus operators should operate their services from localities outside the city and not enter from 8: A.M., on the 1st of September till 10:00 A.M., on the 2nd of September.

Police have asked people going to the airport, railway stations or bus stations to avoid the Tank Bund, NTR Marg, Necklace road and other important routes leading to the immersion point.

The Telangana Police also released a Traffic Control Room number for guidance. The numbers issued are 040-27852482 or 94905-98985.

Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated across India on the 22nd of August.
