M Nageswara Rao Says Central Government Should Give Money To TSRTC

M. Nageswara Rao, the former Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and a trade union leader, criticised the Central Government.

On the 5th of February, Mr. Rao said the Central Government still needs to allocate money to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC.)

After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government announced the Union Budget, Telugu states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were disappointed as the States did not get the expected money for their development projects.

Nageswara Rao issued a press release and said since the Central Government owns 31 % shares of the TSRTC, it should give a minimum amount of Rs. 500 crores to the Corporation.

Mr. Rao said in the past 70 years, the Central Government allocated only Rs. 50 crores to the TSRTC.  He said knowing the economic condition of State transport, the Central Government should give money to the State Government to improve the public transport in the State.

Due to the recent 60 day TSRTC strike and other issues, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation is facing a financial crisis.
