Panchayat to manage drinking water supply at rural areas

Hyderabad: CM Revanth Reddy directed the authorities to hand over the drinking water supply responsibilities to panchayat authorities in rural areas. He said that maintenance of pipelines, water filtration and repair works were totally ignored at villages and people are facing problems.

He chaired a review meeting on rural drinking water supply ahead of summer season. Revanth said that mission Bhageeratha will supply water until the Panchayat limits. Village Panchayats should take responsibility for supplying water to every household.

Revanth asked Panchayat authorities to direct special officers at village level to take special interest in drinking water supply in the absence of Sarpanchs.

Chief minister said that authorities should prepare an action plan for summer water supply and utilize the water at Godavari, Krishna, Mallanna Sagar and Kondapochamma reservoirs.

Minister D Seethakka, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, CS Santha Kunari and others attended the meeting.
