An important point of South Central Railways, the Secunderabad Station is all set to undergo some major changes so as to give it an airport replicated ambiance. Shopping arcades and restaurants will be introduced to make travelers accessible to daily needs. The Centre has passed to an ordinance that will aid the 143 year old SCR to mordernize.
The station is one of those of the 23 stations in the country that will be ‘overhauled’ according to the Central Government. A total of Rs. 4,000 crores is being invested by private companies to revamp the station. The South zone authorities will be in charge of planning out the blueprint of the new layout. While the Centre is all set to revamp the Station, most of the passengers are also hoping for stations surroundings, like parking and other facilities to get a new look. Over the last few years, under the Centre’s World Class station plan, the station has already seen some minor changes and developments.
Some of these changes include escalators on major platforms, lifts and also electronic display boards, surveillance cameras and also better drinking water stations. Some facilities like restaurants, waiting halls, cloak rooms, foot bridges and also book stalls are present at the station. These will be revamped so as to give a more modern and sophisticated look.
