Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President of Telangana, has been arrested by the State Police, on the 23rd of August, Tuesday.
The arrest was after Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar along with the BJP Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha, called for a protest after the BJYM workers were beaten up by cops, during a protest. Notably, the BJYM and Party’s Mahila Morcha members protested outside the residence of Ms. K. Kavitha, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Member of the Legislative Council (MLC). The BJP has alleged Ms. K. Kavitha, the daughter of Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, was involved in the Delhi Excise Liquor Scam.
In regard to this, many BJP workers, leaders and cadres created a ruckus and protested outside the residence of the MLC in Hyderabad Ms. K. Kavitha. To control the situation, the Telangana Police deployed forces and detained many leaders. To condemn the beating of the BJP workers and cadres, the State President Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, called for a protest, which was not permitted by the Telangana Police.
After the protest was carried out, the Telangana Police intervened and took the situation under control.
Meanwhile, Ms. Kavitha said she would move the Telangana High Court seeking an injunction order against those making the allegations. Ms. K. Kavitha said, “The allegations made on me are completely baseless…I don’t have any link with what was said in the Delhi Excise scam. They have all the agencies in their hands, they can do whatever investigation that is required. We will completely cooperate.”
