The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government extended the Dalit Bandhu scheme to four mandals of Telangana.

The decision was taken by Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana on the 1st of September.

Initially, the Dalit Bandhu scheme was launched in Vasalamarri and Huzurabad Assembly constituency only, but now it would be implemented in four other mandals.

The four mandals where the scheme would be implemented are: Chintakani mandal in Madhira constituency, Tirumalagiri mandal in Thungathurthy constituency, Charagonda mandal in Achampet constituency and Nizamsagar mandal in Jukkal constituency. These four mandals are from Scheduled Caste (SC) reserved assembly constituencies in Telangana.

The implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme in the aforementioned mandals are with immediate effect, which is the 1st of September. However, a final decision regarding the modifications and other concerns of the scheme in these mandals would be taken during a review meeting chaired by KCR. A notification released by the State Government read, “Decisions will be taken at the proposed meeting over the modalities of implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme in these four mandal.”

The meeting is expected to be held by Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, after his return from Delhi. The TRS President is on a three day tour to Delhi and would be returning back on the 3rd of September.

Meanwhile, according to the media sources, it is assumed that the decision to extend the scheme in these mandals is an answer to the opposition parties. Since the TRS Government launched the Dalit Bandhu scheme in Huzurabad, the opposition parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Indian National Congress (INC) have been taking a dig at the KCR Government. They alleged the implemented scheme to be a strategy to gain vote bank for the upcoming Huzurabad by election. As an answer to their criticism, the ruling Government took a crucial decision and extended the scheme in four mandals.

Under the announced Dalit Bandhu scheme, the financial benefits would empower Dalits in Telangana. The Dalit Bandhu Scheme (Dalit Empowerment Program) would provide financial assistance to Dalit families. The Chandrashekar Rao Government would provide Rs. 10 lakh financial assistance directly to the bank accounts of Dalit beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Dalit Empowerment Programme. The eligible families selected as beneficiaries from 119 Assembly constituencies would receive the money to make them financially stable and self sufficient.
