Final rites of the youth Damodar Prakash, who died during the massive protest at Secunderabad Railway Station are underway in the Warangal district of Telangana.

On the 18th of June, Saturday, Damodar’s family started his funeral procession in Telangana’s Warangal district.  The final rites rituals started amid shutdown calls in Warangal.  Notably, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) cadres in the Warangal district called for a shutdown, amid the killing of Damodar Prakash.

According to sources, Damodar lost his life, after the Telangana Police deployed at the Secunderabad Railway Station, opened fire.  The police, to control the angry youth from protesting against the Central Government’s Agnipath Army recruitment scheme, opened fire, causing one death (Damodar) and 8 injuries.

Meanwhile, before the funeral, a procession was carried out from the MGM Hospital in Warangal to Narsampet, with the participation of over 100 people, including leaders and workers of the ruling TRS. 

The Telangana State ministers like Mr. E. Dayakar Rao, Ms. Satyavathi Rathod, MP Ms. M. Kavitha, MLAs like Mr. Vinay Bhaskar, Mr. P. Sudershan Reddy, and other TRS leaders were also a part of the procession. 

After the procession, the last rites of Damodar Rakesh would be performed at Dabeerpet village later in the day.   Concerning this, the State Police have made elaborate security arrangements to prevent any violence. 

Furthermore, condemning the death of Damodar Rakesh, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, has announced a compensation of Rs. 25 lakh to Damodar’s family.  In addition, the ruling Government also promised a government job to a family member of Rakesh, as per their qualification.
