Telangana Groom Calls Off Wedding Amid Old Furniture In Dowry
In Hyderabad, a groom called off his wedding due to old furniture given in the dowry.
In Hyderabad’s Chandrayangutta, Mohammed Zakaria, who works as a bus driver did not turn up for the wedding, scheduled on the 19th of February, Sunday. When the bride’s family went to their house, they refused to come and misbehaved with the bride’s family, following which a complaint was registered with the police on the 20th of February, Monday.
After an initial investigation, it was revealed that the groom and his family refused the marriage because of old furniture given in the dowry. The bride’s father said,
“They said the items which they had asked for were not given and the furniture was also old. They refused to come. I had arranged for the feast for the wedding and invited all relatives and guests. But the groom did not come for his wedding.” He further added, “The groom’s mother Raheemunnisa and others told us that we didn’t give the motorcycle and also the furniture being gifted by us is old.”
It is to be noted, it was a second marriage for both the bride and groom and before the wedding, the matter has been discussed. However, the groom’s family objected to the old furniture given and decided to call off the wedding.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the groom under the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Dowry Prohibition Act.
