The Telangana High Court (HC,) on the 29th of October, issued an order regarding the ongoing Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Poaching Case.
On Saturday, the HC single division bench of Justice Chillakur Sumalatha passed the orders, after reviewing a criminal revision petition filed by the Cyberabad police. The police filed a petition, challenging the Anti Corruption Bureau Court’s order, which directed the release of three accused, detained in the matter and rejected remand appeal of the police.
Notably, the Cyberabad Police arrested Mr. Ramachandra Bharati, alias S. Satish Sharma, from Delhi and Mr. Simhayajulu from Tirupati, both said to be temple priests and Mr. Nanda Kumar, a businessman from Hyderabad, a close associate of a union minister. The arrest was said to be in view of the allegations that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to poach the TRS MLAs and offered them Rs. 100 crore. The police booked them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Corruption act.
However, the ACB Court reviewed the matter and asked the City Police to release them and revoke corruption charges on them.
The orders of the ACB court was reversed, as the Telangana High Court asked all the three detained accused, who were released to surrender within the next 24 hours, for further investigation.
