The Telangana High Court (HC,) on the 28th of January, Friday, reviewed the COVID-19 situation and questioned the reopening of schools.

Recently, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) announced to close schools and educational institutions for offline classes. During today’s hearing, Telangana Court asked the advocate general representing the Government regarding the reopening of schools. Responding to it, the Government counsel said that no decision has been taken by the Government on the reopening of schools in the state.

Hearing a bunch of petitions against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) COVID-19 measures, the HC bench asked the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government on the measures taken to contain the spread of infection in weekend markets. They also inquired about the arrangements made for Samakka-Saralamma jatara, scheduled to begin in February.

Responding to the quarries of the Telangana HC, Dr. G Srinivas Rao, the Director of Public Health, said, approximately 3.45 lakh isolation kits were handed over to the people by visiting 77 lakh houses during the fever survey. He furthermore informed about the Wuhan virus positivity rate, which is low at 3.16%.

When questioned on the medicine for children in isolation kits, Dr. Srinivas Rao said that children’s medicine should not be handed over directly through the kits and have to be given separately.
