Mohammed Mahmood Ali, the Home Minister of Telangana, on the 27th of February, ordered the Telangana police to suspend N. Sridhar, a police constable of Sangareddy Police Station.
After a video of the policeman kicking the father of a dead girl went viral, the Telangana Police faced a lot of criticism with a demand for strict action against the constable.
The man identified as Chandrashekar, was not leaving his daughter’s dead body, at which point the policeman started to kick , to drag and to manhandle him. Based on this evidence, the Home Minister of Telangana ordered the Police to suspend N. Sridhar, the police constable who manhandled, Chandrashekar. Mr. Ali also asked the Sangareddy Police Station to file a case against Sridhar under the relevant section of the penal code.
This incident happened a day after a 16 year old 1st year intermediate student committed suicide. The girl who was identified as Sandhya Rani, committed suicide by hanging herself in her college hostel.
While the management of Narayana Junior College denied taking responsibility for her action, the parents alleged the hostel and college management of negligence. Chandrashekar and Padma, Sandhya’s parents, said their daughter was suffering from fever and she wanted to return home, but the college and hostel administrators refused to permit her and neglected her health condition.
The investigation over the negligence of the college management and the suicide case is also underway.
