In Telangana’s Nirmal district, a student of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Barasat committed suicide.
On the 19th of December, Monday, the Nirmal District Police confirmed the suicide case and said, Bhanu Prasad, a native of Rangpur village in Rangareddy ended his life. He was studying PUC-II (Pre University) course at IIIT Barasat and was staying at Boys Hostel 2. The incident occurred on Sunday night and came to light, the next day.
As per the initial investigation, the police confirmed it to be a suicide case, after they received a suicide note but yet to reveal the content of it. Meanwhile, the students of the IIIT Barasat staged a protest and blamed the strict rules and pressure from the educational institution to be the reason behind Bhanu Prasad’s death.
However, Professor Venkataramana the Vice Chancellor of the IIIT Barasat denied the allegations and said, Bhanu died due to personal reasons and there is no involvement of management in his suicide.
The investigation into the matter is underway and the body has been sent for an autopsy.
