T. Jagga Reddy, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Indian National Congress (INC,) will stage a hunger strike on the 10th of August in Hyderabad.
T. Jagga Reddy addressed the media and said if the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government does not provide the water from Godavari river to Sangareddy district, Telangana, he will protest against the Government.
He said he will wait till the 30th of July and if the Government does not provide water till then, he will stage the hunger strike with lakhs of people against the K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS Government.
This is not the first time Jagga Reddy tried to conduct a protest demanding water supply to the people of Sangareddy. Previously, he tried to meet KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana and K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the TRS, regarding the same.
Recently, on the 15th of July, the Telangana Police arrested Jagga Reddy as he was heading to stage a protest and begin a Jaladeeksha for his demands. He was then kept at the Kondapur Police Station.
Jagga Reddy came into the limelight with his continuous attempts of getting water for his constituency. He also accused Harish Rao, the MLA of the Siddipet constituency, of allegedly shifting the water from Sinur reservoir to Siddipet.
Sangareddy is facing water issues since the Sinur reservoir was shifted to Siddipet, leaving the people of Sangareddy suffering from water scarcity.
MLA Jagga Reddy, with lakhs of people, will stage the protest on the 10th of August against the TRS Government until his demands are fulfilled.
