On Dussehra, the 15th of October, Friday, a total of Rs. 150 crores worth liquor was sold and purchased in Telangana.
The People of Telangana, celebrated the festival and were high on spirits, resulting in the huge sale of alcohol in the State. According to sources, on Friday, over Rs. 150 crores liquor was sold in the Telugu State of Telangana. The information was given by the Excise Department official, who wished to be anonymous. The official said, a rise of 53 % in sales was reported in Telangana. The sales are expected to increase further as the festival is followed by a weekend, Saturday and Sunday.
In addition, in the wake of the upcoming festival season, the sale of liquor is expected to be more compared to other times of the year.
It is to be noted, in 2021 the sales of liquor have been booming in Telangana. After the pandemic, the demand of alcohol increased. Despite the rise in prices, the sale of liquor was not affected, instead it got better in the past one year.
