K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 9th of September, introduced the new Revenue Bill in the Monsoon Assembly session.

Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao introduced the new Revenue Bill calling it as Telangana Rights in Lands and Pattadar Pass Books Bill 2020.

The new Revenue Bill would address all the land related disputes on a permanent basis. District collectors would be authorised to take over from the Village Revenue Officials (VROs) and look into all the land related problems.

KCR said the Telangana Government was working out to finalise the modalities in the new act for the last three years and also reminded that the Government has already initiated purification of land records.

Mr. Rao during the assembly said, “The considerations in the new revenue bill are equally applicable to all the people in the State.”  He further added, “Agriculture is in practice for the last 5000-6000 years and since then the land has been recognised as the means of production and its value has been increased. Many reforms have been made during the regime of PV Narasimha Rao, NT Rama Rao, N Chandrababu Naidu and YS Rajasekhara Reddy but the issues related to land still exist.”

Recently, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) announced abolition of VROs system in the Revenue department.  The abolition was a part of the new Revenue Bill, which was introduced in today’s session.

Under the new Revenue Act, corruption would be less and transparency would be there in the ReVenue department of Telangana.

The Telangana Assembly session started from the 7th of September and would continue till the 28th of September.

Stay tuned for further updates.
