Telangana: Mulugu MLA Arrested For Staging Protest

On the 18th of September, Seethakka, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Mulugu, was arrested by the Telangana Police.

According to sources, tension prevailed at Pragathi Bhavan after the police took Ms. Seethakka into custody for staging a protest outside the campus.

Ms. Seethakka staged a protest, demanding compensation to the farmers who lost their crops due to heavy rains.

In the past few days, Telangana received heavy rainfall resulting a damage of crops.

The Mulugu MLA also alleged the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government did not give an opportunity to speak in the assembly.

Ms. Seethakka along with other members of the Indian National Congress (INC) staged a protest amid the Assembly session.

The MLA along with other Congress leaders tried to lay siege to Pragati Bhavan.

A clash erupted between the Congress leaders and the police when the latter tried to stop them.

Following the incident, the police arrested the MLA and sent her to a police station. Congress leaders and Kisan cell leader Anvesh Reddy also took part in the protest.

The Telangana Assembly session started from the 7th of September and would continue till the 28th of September.
