Several regions of Hyderabad witnessed a flood-like situation, after a few hours of heavy rain, on the 15th of June, Wednesday.
Notably, the southwest monsoon entered Telangana on Tuesday, the 14th of June, after a delay of five days. However, continuous rainfall for approximately 24 hours, resulted in waterlogging situations, blocked roads with uprooted trees, and floods in many isolated places of the Telangana Capital City, Hyderabad.
In addition, residents also suffered traffic issues and shared videos of flooded roads on social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. They questioned the State Government that if roads were getting flooded in the starting stages of the monsoon, what would happen in the coming days? A few even requested the Telangana Urban Development Minister Mr. K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) to solve the issue as soon as possible before the monsoon began.
Many complaints regarding the floods and water logging situations came from Old Hyderabad, which received 50 mm rainfall on the 15th of June.
In the Old City, Chandrayangutta recorded a maximum rainfall of 54.3mm while Rajendranagar and Falaknuma witnessed 40mm of rain, each.
Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) workers swung into action to clear floods and make travel easy for the citizens of Hyderabad.
