The K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Government has created a landmark in the Health Sector, in India.  In 2022, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Government witnessed massive growth and development in the field of health.  The public health sector in Telangana has witnessed significant developments across multiple fronts, resulting in the improvement of crucial healthcare indices like maternal and infant mortality rates.  The developments were confirmed through an annual healthcare report for 2022, released for the first time in Telangana.

With this, the Government of Telangana managed to cement the Telugu State’s position among the top states in the health sector, across India.

According to the report, Telangana is ranked third by NITI Aayog, for providing quality healthcare services.  Across multiple healthcare indices like maternal mortality rate, infant mortality rate, medical infrastructure, measures to control unnecessary C-sections, and recruitment of manpower in all the health departments, Telangana has witnessed massive growth in 2022.

Taking pride in the Health Sector growth, Mr. T. Harish Rao, the Health Minister of Telangana said, “Due to Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision, we have been able to lay a solid foundation of the health sector in 2022, which will last for the next one to a decade.  There have been untoward incidents in government hospitals in Telangana and are not denying them.  The only thing that we did is to learn from them and have to ensure that such incidents do not repeat in the future.”

Furthermore, Mr. T. Harish Rao also highlighted that the State Government and Health Department conducted massive recruitment to strengthen medical education and expanded the pool of MBBS medical seats for deserving students.

For the first time, in 2022, the Telangana government had allocated a staggering Rs 11, 440 crores for the development of the government health and medical department.

In just one day, eight new Government medical colleges in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem, Nagarkurnool and Ramagundam, offering 1,200 medical seats at each college, annually.
