Hyderabad: The Telangana government is set to expand the reach of women’s self-help groups by establishing stalls at railway stations across the state. In the first phase, 14 stalls will be opened, followed by 36 more in the second phase. These stalls will showcase local food products, handloom items, and handicrafts, offering passengers a taste of authentic Telangana cuisine and culture.
The initiative follows the successful implementation of women’s product stalls in government offices, collectorates, and tourist areas. Now, under the direction of Minister Sitakka, officials are taking steps to introduce these stalls at railway stations. SEARCH CEO Divyadevarajan held discussions with the Railway Department, securing the necessary approvals.
Each station will feature a unique selection of locally made goods:
- Secunderabad – Bakery products
- Khammam – Sakinas, laddus, karappusa
- Sirpur – Murukus, other snacks
- Bhadrachalam – Pickles
- Warangal & Karimnagar – Snack items
- Ghanapur – Handicrafts
- Shankarapally – Jute and cloth bags
- Vikarabad – Glass, bead necklaces
- Charlapalli – Earthen cups, bottles, kadais
- Pochampally – Handloom products
The initiative aims to boost women’s income and showcase Telangana’s rich heritage to travelers. Officials anticipate that the stalls will generate nationwide demand for women’s self-help group products, leading to increased orders from various states.
