New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to elect a new national president, with the announcement expected by March 15. As part of the ongoing organizational elections, BJP is in the final stages of completing the process required to select its next leader.
According to the BJP constitution, at least half of the state units must complete organizational elections before the national president can be chosen. So far, the process has been completed in 12 states, with at least six more states, including Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Gujarat, set to complete elections soon.
JP Nadda, who was unanimously elected BJP chief in 2020, had his tenure extended last year to lead the party through the Lok Sabha elections. Under his leadership, BJP secured victories in multiple state elections, strengthening its position. Following BJP’s third consecutive term, Nadda was inducted into the Union Cabinet as Health Minister, leaving the party presidency open for a new leader.
Among the frontrunners for the post are Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vasundhara Raje, Sunil Bansal, and Vinod Tawde. With speculation growing, the BJP leadership is expected to finalize the next national president soon.
