Political chaos erupted in Telangana, after leaders of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) were either detained or house arrested.

On the 21st of June, the State Police took preventive custody of several TPCC leaders in the view of the planned protest by the opposition party.  The protest was called  at a time when the State is celebrating the decennial Telangana Formation Day Celebrations.   Notably, started from the 2nd of June, the 21 days Telangana Formation Day Celebration was organized in a grand manner by the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi.  The celebrations are scheduled to conclude on the 22nd of June, Thursday.

Meanwhile, the TPCC also called for a protest against the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Government at the time of formation day celebrations. The Congress party has dubbed the occasion ‘Dashabdi Dhaga’ (a decade of cheating) and called for protests across the state.

Therefore, to not disturb the celebrations, the police placed top Congress leaders under house arrest.  The TPCC condemned the house arrests and termed it as the murder of democracy and demanded the Director General of Police to unconditionally release them.

Mr. A. Revanth Reddy, the President of the TPCC said in the name of state formation day celebrations, the ruling party was running a campaign by spending public money.  He alleged that K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, failed to fulfill a single promise made to the people and is now using the public money for the celebrations.  He further  alleged that the Chief Minister extended no help to the families of the martyrs who laid down their lives for Telangana.

Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress had asked its supporters to burn effigies representing CM KCR, likening him to Dashanana Ravanasura with 10 heads, each symbolizing a broken election promise.

As per the TPCC, some of the failed promise include:

KG to PG free education scheme

Fee reimbursement

Unemployment allowance

Employment for every household

2BHK housing

3 acres land for Dalits

Podu land pattas

Loan waiver,

Employment,

12% reservation for minorities.

12% reservation for the Scheduled Tribes (STs.)
