On Friday, the 15th of October, Telangana reported 104 new cases with one death and 218 recoveries. The new cases were confirmed by conducting 20,377 sample tests for COVID-19, of which 104 came positive for COVID-19. The low number of cases could be due to the low number of testing conducted in the view of Dussehra. Usually, the Telangana Health Department conducts 35,000 to 40,000 tests in a day, resulting in more than 200 new cases. Till date, the State Health Department conducted 2,69,65,431 number of COVID-19 tests.
Despite the low number of cases, of the new cases, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) region reported 48, the highest number of the Wuhan virus cases. Of all the districts, the GHMC limit showed no improvement and reports a high number of cases regularly.
The aforementioned data was confirmed through a health bulletin, released by the Telangana Health Department on Friday evening. The Health Department releases a media bulletin everyday to update the information about the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.
With this, Telangana now has 6,68,722 positive cases, of which 4,056 are active cases, 6,60,730 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,936 are deceased. The recovery rate of Telangana is now at 98.80 % and the fatality rate of COVID-19 remained constant for the past four months at 0.58 %.
It is to be noted, in the South Indian region, Telangana is the only state with low single day cases of the Wuhan virus. Other states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the COVID-19 the situation is risky with a high number of cases and active cases above 5,000.
In addition, despite the Dussehra festival and Bathukamma festival, the number of Wuhan virus cases are low and under control.
The State Health Department is also putting efforts and ensuring that people are safe and following COVID-19 appropriate behavior. The Telangana Health and Public Welfare Director Dr. G. Srinivas Rao reissued a set of guidelines for COVID-19, asking everyone to follow the guidelines properly. He asked people to get their tests done immediately, if having COVID-19 symptoms.
The Telangana Government also alerted about water borne and mosquito borne diseases like Dengue and Malaria and other viral fevers, especially when the health experts alerted India of the possible third wave of the Wuhan virus in mid October.
Meanwhile, in Telangana, of the total active Wuhan virus cases, 79.90 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.10 % are symptomatic.
