Hyderabad: Telangana ministers expressed anger over the BRS party and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for the failure of Kaleshwaram project. Minister opined that the government spent around Rs.1 lakh crores on Kaleshwaram and failed to provide water for at least 1 lakh acres.

A team of ministers along with irrigation authorities inspected the Kaleshwaram project on Friday and enquired the ground reality. Ministers opined that the government ignored the danger sounds made by irrigation authorities on the quality of the project and awarded new works to the same agencies. Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Komatreddy Venkat Reddy inspected the project and announced that a third party enquiry and judicial enquiry will be ordered to probe irregularities in construction of Kaleshwaram and Medigadda projects.

Ministers said that the Kaleshwaram project was taken up with a target of providing water for 19 lakh acres, but provided irrigation for only 98 thousand acres of land, ministers said. They asserted that the Pranahita-Chevella lift irrigation project, ignored by the BRS government, will get new life soon.
