Padi Kaushik Reddy, the former member of the Indian National Congress (INC) in Telangana, is going to join the opposition, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)
After quitting the Indian National Congress Party and the position of in charge of Huzurabad, Padi Kaushik Reddy would officially be a member of the TRS on the 21st of July, Wednesday. The resignation of Mr. Kaushik Reddy came after on the 12th of July, Kaushik Reddy, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Secretary was issued a show cause notice, based on a leaked audio clip.
In the audio clip, Kaushik Reddy was heard saying, the ruling TRS Government promised him a ticket to contest the Huzurabad by election. In the audio, he was also heard asking for a list of village youths, who would be into the TRS after being paid. According to the audio clip, Kishan Reddy said, “Pay them ₹2,000, 3,000 or 5,000 and bring them into the party. I will take care of you.” However, no media sources and agencies confirmed the authenticity of the audio. It is also noted that, even after receiving the show cause notice, the former TPCC Secretary did not give any explanation and chose to quit the INC.
Kaushik Reddy leaving the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) and joining the TRS, came at a time when the State is preparing for the major Huzurabad Assembly constituency by election.
After Eatala Rajender resigned as the Huzurabad Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and TRS member, the Huzurabad MLA seat fell vacant. All the major parties are working to ensure winning the Huzurabad by election.
In regard to this, ahead of the Assembly elections, many members of the various parties are also switching their loyalties and joining different opposition parties.
Adding to the list, Kaushik Reddy would be the latest leader to switch parties by joining the TRS.
An official announcement regarding the date of P. Kaushik Reddy joining the TRS is yet to be made.
