TRS GHMC Mayor Candidate In Sealed Cover, To Be Revealed On GHMC Mayor Election Day

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 7th of February, conducted a crucial meeting with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members. 

During the meeting, Mr. Rao said the Party’s Mayoral Candidate would be sent in a sealed cover.

The sealed name of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor candidate would be opened on the 11th of February, the day of the election.

According to sources, the meeting which was chaired by K. Chandrashekar Rao, the TRS President, discussed several issues of the Party, including members, process and others.

During the meeting, Mr. Rao told the TRS leaders that there will be no prior announcement and the candidate would be sent to the corporators in a sealed cover.

In addition, Mr. Rao asked the TRS Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) members to reach Telangana Bhavan at 10:00 A.M., on the 11th of February.

Mr. Rao said, “All the corporators and ex-officio members who have voting rights in the mayor election have to come to Telangana Bhavan on February 11 at 9 am and take the brief. The party will hand over a sealed cover with the name of (the) mayor. The cover will be opened just before the election. They have to leave in a bus to the GHMC headquarters(sic.)”

Mr. Rao asked the MLAs and members to reach on time, take breakfast at the Bhavan and leave together to the GHMC office. Besides GHMC Mayor, the Deputy Mayor candidate’s name would also be sent to the GHMC office in a sealed cover.

According to the sources, after conducting the TRS Executive Committee meeting, Mr. Rao met with Zilla Parishad Chairpersons.

During the Zilla Parishad meeting, Mr. Rao proposed the Telangana Government to have a fund of Rs. 10 crore for every ZP chairperson.

Similarly, every district would have a ZP guest house and the ZP Chairpersons, which would be a step in the development of the district.

KCR also said, the Government was thinking of bringing a scheme for the Scheduled Castes (SCs) and the Scheduled Tribes (STs) with Rs 10,000 crores.

Meanwhile, the GHMC Mayor elections would be held on the 11th of February. Though many candidates are eying the mayoral post, this year, a female candidate would be the GHMC Mayor. A source close to the Party said, the TRS is considering a Backward Class (BC) woman candidate for the GHMC Mayor position.

However, an official announcement would be made on the 11th of February, after the GHMC mayoral elections.
