Considering the increasing number of cases in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) area the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government increased containment clusters in Telangana.

On the 18th of April, the Telangana Government announced strict lockdown rules and 20 new containment clusters for the spread of the COVID-19.  Even bank employees are not allowed to step outside of the house in areas under the GHMC unit.

The decision to do so came after two Hyderabad police officials tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection in Hyderabad, Telangana.

The police constables were on duty in the wake of the imposed Nationwide lockdown when they developed symptoms of the virus and were admitted to the Koti Hospital in Hyderabad.

One of the constables was on duty at the State run Gandhi Hospital, which is also designated COVID-19 treatment centre, whereas another one was on inspection in Hyderabad.

The families of both the constables were sent to isolation wards and would be soon tested for the Novel Coronavirus infection.

This is the 3rd case of Hyderabad police being infected by the Novel Coronavirus in the City.   Previously, a constable while on duty came in contact with a citizen and tested positive of the virus.

The medical department is trying to figure out how these two constables came in contact with the Coronavirus and developed the infection.

As of now, the constables are undergoing treatment at the Gandhi Hospital for the Novel Coronavirus illness.

Till date, there are 766 cases of the Novel Coronavirus infection in Telangana with 18 deaths.
